Another beautiful day today. I must remember to not complain when start seeing summer temperatures. I did some weed eating today, the darn weeds are taller than I am.

I decided last year to let the berry bushes just go so it would be easier to pick and now it's a jungle out there. I can barely see where the path used to be. I have my work cut out for me. The field is mostly pasture grass and it's the hardest thing to cut, it gets tangled around the weed eater shaft and the root system is massive so it leaves huge clumps. I need a goat or a sheep or something.

The property is fenced except for a small area where I would need a gate. Only problem is that living here, livestock becomes fodder for the local wild life. I actually considered getting some chickens again, they are the best company and they really keep the bug population at bay. Plus the eggs are such a bonus, no comparison to store bought eggs. Even though my girls have been gone for months I have friends with chickens so I haven't had to buy eggs until just the other day.

Every spring since I have lived here for two or three weeks there are so many birds that I can't keep up the filling the feeder with seed, then as quickly as they show up they are gone. The Orioles have always stopped on their way to somewhere but this year they are staying. They eat from the Hummingbird feeder. Both the Hummingbirds and the Orioles are very noisy. It's as if they are announcing that it's meal time. I also have a bird house Dillon gave me several years ago hanging on the porch and every year a little Tit Mouse makes her home there and raises her babies.

I love nature and make sure I take time to smell the roses.
